Believe it or not, Ottawa has slowly but surely crawled its way into Spring 2016. This vibrant metropolis that we call home is absolutely brimming with all sorts of exciting activities this May. Whether you’re looking to welcome the warmer weather outdoors or are wary the notoriously unreliable Ottawa Spring will turn on you, there’s still plenty to choose from.

Get the lowdown on what’s in store for you in Ottawa this May. Here’s a lineup that won’t disappoint!

Don Quixote

Heralded as the world’s first modern novel, an adaption of Don Quixote will be brought to life at Place des Arts from the 4th to the 7th this month. This performance by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba promises ‘an explosion of energy and colours’, along with world-class choreography and stunning costumes – definitely not an experience to miss out on!

Piknic Electronik

Jean-Drapeau Park is once again hosting the annual Piknic Electronik starting May 22 this year. Boasting an ever bigger, better and louder lineup of artists and DJs, the Piknic Electronik is sure to get you into the rhythm to welcome the summer season! If you need a ride there, UBER is offering a free first ride for all Piknickers!

Ottawa Museums Day

Take a stroll and explore art, culture, history and science through the ages at the Ottawa Museum’s Day taking place on May 29. Take advantage of the free admission to over 30 museums in the city, as well as the free shuttle service making your museum-hopping experience even better. Participating institutions have a day of special activities planned, too!

Go Bike MTL Festival

Ready to put the pedal to the metal? The Go Bike MTL Festival kicks off its tour on May 29 with the Metropolitan Challenge, offering a scenic setting for an alfresco outing. The course takes you along the Ottawa River and then through the picturesque farmland towards Mirabel. If you’re ready for a good workout, or just a chance to meet fellow cyclists, then sign up now!

Cirque du Soleil’s new show Luzia is running all through May at the Big Top in Old Port. It is inspired by the ‘cultural richness of Mexico’ and is a vibrant celebration of the country, its music and its heritage. Witness jaw-dropping physical feats displayed in time to catchy Latin American tunes that make this show one of the most magical ones the Cirque has put out yet!

You asked, and Ottawa delivered! What’s on your agenda this May?
